Felicia’s journey into physiotherapy began with nursing. As a nursing student, she appreciated being able to care for patients at their bedside, but often felt that she could only do so much. She wanted to help people go beyond being cared for and regain the independence and function they had before their hospitalisation.
This led her to Scotland, where she pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy. After graduating, Felicia returned to Singapore and began her physiotherapy career in the community, working primarily with geriatric and neurological patients.
Over time, she found herself asking a bigger question: what more could be done when patients reached a plateau in their rehabilitation? This led her to explore ways of extending rehabilitation beyond the Day Rehab Centre, including introducing telerehabilitation to help patients continue working on their recovery in their everyday environments.
Wanting to broaden her clinical experience, Felicia eventually moved beyond the community setting and began working with a wider range of conditions. She collaborated with podiatrists on lower-limb dysfunction and later worked alongside dentists in managing temporomandibular joint dysfunction, as well as associated headaches, neck and shoulder pain.
It was through this journey that Felicia discovered directional-bias Clinical Pilates. The approach changed the way she viewed movement and rehabilitation. By combining her clinical experience with new evidence-based movement strategies, she found new ways to progress patients who had previously reached a plateau.
Today, Felicia continues to explore how movement can be used to help people achieve what they once thought was no longer possible. Her journey has brought her to work collaboratively with Clinical Pilates Family Physiotherapy and KJ Therapy, where she continues to integrate her clinical experience with her passion for movement.
At the heart of Felicia’s practice is a simple philosophy:
