Who is KJ Therapy?

Young Woman Having a Therapy Session

Stroke is a medical condition that can significantly impact a person and their family. A stroke can happen to anyone, and it has a range of lingering effects. One of the most common post-stroke symptoms is paralysis, the inability to move certain parts of the body.

In Singapore, the number of stroke victims is increasing every year and it’s one of the principal causes of death. To combat the surge of stroke victims, physical and emotional therapy is needed now more than ever.

Founded in 2020,  KJ Therapy is an in-house therapy provider that specialises in physical and emotional therapy for stroke patients. The company was established in light of strict covid-19 restrictions to help provide door-to-door services for patients in need.

Here’s a look at our services and how we maintain a professional workforce.

Our Services

Our post-stroke therapy massage is designed to help stroke patients regain basic motor skills so they can perform daily tasks without the help of others. Our physical therapy involves aligning, kneading and massaging the body’s soft tissues.

This increases blood circulation to affected parts of the body, improving mobility and helping patients retain dexterity. For the best results, we combine traditional massage with modern sports rehabilitation to help relieve joint stiffness and strengthen the core muscles.

We also put a lot of emphasis on emotional support, which is key in helping stroke victims recover. Our therapists are trained to help patients manage their mental well-being and improve their confidence and self-esteem.

Besides stroke patients, we also offer massage therapy for non-stroke patients, including pre-natal and post-natal massage.

Our Hiring Process

To make sure our services are up to standards, we adhere to a strict hiring process where we only hire therapists based on three criterias; compassion, experience and high EQ (emotional intelligence). We then funnel our applicants through a screening procedure of 4 steps:

  • Step 1: Professional background check
  • Step 2: Therapeutic massages skills test
  • Step 3: Psychiatric assessment
  • Step 4: Post-stroke massage

Ultimately, this will determine if our therapists possess the suitable skills and the right EQ to empathise and connect with our patients.

The Importance of Post-Stroke Massage Therapy

At KJ, we cannot overstate the importance of post-stroke massage therapy. It has a wide range of benefits from a physical and mental standpoint. As mentioned, it can help blood circulation and improve blood flow to affected body areas.

It can also reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety which are commonly associated with stroke victims. Furthermore, post-stroke massage can help prevent a second stroke from occurring.

A recurring stroke is often disregarded, but already having one will inherently increase the chances of a second stroke. The bottom line, post-stroke massage therapy is an important part of stroke recovery which raises the question, why should you choose KJ?

Why KJ Therapy?

There are many post-stroke massage therapists in Singapore, each with its own USPs and benefits. At KJ Therapy, we specialise in providing emotional support and professional massage services.

Our therapists are experts in the field and they approach each patient according to their specific needs. On top of that, we also offer door-to-door services, which are ideal for stroke victims who prefer the comfort of home.

Last but not least, we aim to expand our establishment and eventually open a centre where our patients can come for therapy. If you or your family need physical and emotional therapy, don’t hesitate to contact us here. The sooner you start, the faster the recovery!
